Pasture Rejuvenation

The pasture rejuvenation project aims to assist ranchers by limiting woody species encroachment onto pasture land. The project was launched in September 2020 with field implementation beginning in spring 2021. This research will observe different combinations of mechanical brush removal, grazing, and seeding on the advancement of woody species in areas of concern on ranches. In this project, we combine tried and true field methods of vegetation and soil collection with cutting edge remote sensing data (LiDAR and multispectral) to assess the health of the vegetation communities at each of the treatments. We will continue to collect data for this project over the next few years to better understand the effects of the installed treatments. All results and data will be delivered to the ranchers, and published works will be made available here:

We would like to thank all of our project funders and the involved producers in participating in this project and allowing it to move forward!
